This lesson taught us that if we live in another country, we will get dressed in order to get along with the people of that country. It likes the idiom that When in Roam, do as the Romans.
The teacher gave us to answer the two questions with our opinions.
1. Yumiko had the wrong idea about American students because of American TV programs. Do you think the TV programs about your country are true to life? Give some examples.
No, they don't because the different things in TV programs and real life are quite different. The things in TV programs are very beautiful but the things in real life aren't beautiful. For instance the clothes. We can see those clothes in TV programs and they are so beautiful but the clothes may be faulty in real life. In short. They are advertised in TV programs.
2. Think of some things that Western students may be surprised about when they come to study in your country. For example, the clothes students wear, the hairstyles, the food, etc.
I have Vietnamese friends. Some of them have ever been Thailand. They surprised with the Thai student uniform because their country does not have student uniform. They just got dressed with informal clothes in order to study. and they told me that Thai food is very spicy. They couldn't have it. Most Vietnamese food is quite tasteless. This is the difference between the things in Thailand and Vietnam.
