English Reading Strategies Week5

Are you enjoyable this today?

For me, This is the enjoyable day because it is the first day of this week : )

This is the fifth week that I studied this course.

We studied about the Today's technology.

First of all, The teacher gave us to brainstorm to write the words that associated with "Technology" we discussed and wrote them on the whiteboard.

These are the words that written by us.

We studied "Today's technology" The teacher showed us the activities of how enjoyable they are and we chose 1 activity as the most enjoyable activity. For my opinion, I chose listen to an MP3 player because I usually listen to the English Music. They make me improving my English Skill. Particularly, Listening Skill and Speaking Skill.

We read the article is "Profcasts" First, I read the headline and looked at the picture. Then, I skimming the article that what was it about? When I finished. I looked at the questions in my hand out and I used the Scanning Strategy to find the answer. I got a lot of new words associated with technology I wrote them down on my notebook, 

   Next, When I finally read it. I summarized on my notebook. and I presented my summary to all of my friends and teacher in English Version. I concluded the advantages and disadvantages of profcasts.

The advantages of profcasts are easy to work from home or move, can be downloaded onto MP3 players and the watched or listened where or when students want. Moreover, They help students in studying for instance the students can review their lesson and they are easy way to understand.

The disadvantages of profcasts are of two minds for parents because your parents can not analyze you use the profcasts to review your lesson or listen to the music. For the students who do not have an MP3 player. They will use the university computers. There are many students in there. This is the difficult to concentrate because there is too noise. 

Here was my inclusion that I summarized.

I got the knowledge about this lesson and the teacher gave us to see the some of profcasts. She would like us to improve English skills better. She said to us that if you practice everyday, you will be good at English. I really agreed with her. I have to test about this course on 7 September. The topics are A Healthy Diet and Natural Disaster. We should prepare with reading the news on website and try to get a lot of words associated with these topics in order to get the better scores.

Natural  Disaster (Continue...)

       This today is Monday it is the fourth week that I studied this course. I studied about the Tsunami in Japan. I was so frightened because it was very damage. Everything was collapsed by Tsunami such as cars, ships, and buildings etc.

The teacher gave hand out to us then, I read it suddenly. I guessed the headline and the picture first then, I skimmed the news. Some words was hard I did not know the words but I guessed them by context clues.

When I completely read it. I answered her questions on my hand out. I had to read the body details in the news deliberately in order to answer each of questions. When I finished I wrote vocabularies which I did not know on my hand out with colorful pens. For my opinion colors make me remember easily. I feel fun when I use the colorful pen to note.

After that, I studied about the fires in California. They were dangerous, When I read it. I felt so surprised with this news. Some vocabularies was hard to guess I understood about 70% of whole news and I also got the new vocabularies that I have not known before.

For this today I felt so serious for each of news because it was serious natural disasters the human should realize this problem and solve this problem by growing plants etc. Finally, The teacher assigned us to find the news about the technology particularly,The Internet, Mobile Phone etc and the next week we ought to share some information in English together and study the new lesson is "TECHNOLOGY".

The English Reading Skill is significant in our life if you would like to be good at English try to read the English news or article as much as possible. For me, I would to read the English news at least 20 minutes/day in order to be good at English.

English Reading Strategies Week3

Here is the third week that I learnt this course.

Can you guess?  What's topic that I studied of this class?

It  is  Natural  Disasters.

               I studied about Natural Disasters. The lesson stated after the instructor had opened tsunami videos in Japan. I was so surprised because everything in these videos was collapsed particularly, homes and cars they were washed away by tsunami in Japan.

For my opinion, The people should realize this natural disaster and try to prevent it by growing more plants or trees. Don't eliminate them. 

      Then, Our instructor gave us to brainstorm about the vocabularies that associated with natural disaster on the whiteboard. I and some of my friends wrote them on the whiteboard it made us fun and got lots of vocabularies that associated with natural disasters. 

       Here is the vocabularies about natural disasters written by us.

Next, Our instructor explained the handout to us. we read it carefully and answered each of questions deliberately. The easy way to understand what's text about was reading the headline and guessing the picture first it can make me understand easily. After that, I would like to know the details of news. I read body details of news. By the way, I saw the unfamiliar words. I tried to guess it by context clue when I completely read it I found the meaning of these words and wrote down suddenly. 

I would like to show you about my handout that I studied today.

          In short, When I read the news I will guess the topics and pictures first in order to easily understand and if I don't know the words from news, I will find the meaning of words when I completely read it and jot down them on my note or paper.

                 Eventually, I presented about the food in our university with my members group in English version. This was the first time that I speak English in Thailand. I have ever presented in English in Vietnam because I got the scholarship to study there for 1 month before I went to there I could not speak English anymore. But now I can speak English confidently. For my view, I just speak more and listen more it makes me confident to speak with everyone.

       For our presentation, we tried to do it best. The name of food which we presented is "Fresh spring rolls with assorted vegetables" called "ก๋วยเตี๋ยวลุยสวน" In Thailand. There is a great deal of vegetables and this food is healthy for your health. If you have a chance, try to have it just few times in order to know the flavor of this food.
