Ann Landers Description of Books and Novels.  

Have you ever read English novels? This is the way to improve your English Reading Skill as well.

Classic Ann Landers

For this class, the teacher brought her novels to show us and gave us to read in description from their cover back. Then, we included what the novels is about in English version and her gave us her hand out that is about books and novels. 

I would like to show you about the books and novels from this hand out.

Next, we answered the question in this hand out. First, we read the description from each of books. I used the skimming to read and Scanning to find the details. Personally, the book which I like is Diana Her True Story because I have ever read it before and I believe that we should be with a person who we really love not money or dignity. 

If you have ever read English books or novels. Do you notice the description from the cover back? it consists of the name of book, the author(s), introduction of book, the publisher, the number of pages and price.

One thing that is interesting when we will decide to buy books or novels is cover. If it is decorated or designed with the attractive ideas or pictures. It will tend to increase in buying because most of people look at the cover of books or novels initially and decide to buy or not later.

Later, she gave her hand out to us. This content is Classic Ann Landers who is an advice columnist and use the pen name which is Ann Lander. The real name is Eppie Lederer. She was born on July 4, 1918, in Sioux City, Iowa. She became one of America's most trusted source of advice for decades through her newspaper column. I read the letter to Ann Landers and matched each letter to Ann Landers with its correct response.

Next, we read each of letters and their response again. Then, we answered the questions. In question two is "What Ann Lander's advice is" I wrote my answer on whiteboard and our teacher revised my answer. For my opinion, I think it is good that she revised my answer because I recognize how I should use the appropriate words.

Eventually, she gave us to do more exercises on page 3-4 and advised us that we should read more English books because they are good way to improve our English Reading Skill so now, I also am reading English novels and English Reading Tests because they help me to write and read English as well.

I love reading English books because of her. Her is my inspiration in studying. When I am exhausted with many tasks, I will think about her success in her life. So that why I usually read English books when I am available.

West meets East (continue...)

Today, we studied about "West meets East" First of all, the teacher gave us to discuss the questions with a partner about the things in Asia such as celebrities, foods and products in English version. I discussed with my best friend and shared some information each other.

I would like to show you about the pictures which I shared with my best friend.

Second, the teacher answered the questions in vocabulary focus 1 by giving us respond the answers which we had already done them. Then, we completed the sentences with the correct words which may need to be changed to match the sentence grammatically. I got full marks so I was very pleasant that I did it by myself. Next we wrote the sentence by using "such as" and "like" I wrote my sentence on the whiteboard with my friends then, the teacher scrutinized our answers and checked them in order to revise if they were wrong. 

Next, we studied about the text,Expat in Asia,before we read it, we had predicted the answers to the questions that given in the handout. The text is about the interview with an American English professor (Michael) teaching in Taiwan. When I had already read it, I found his opinions about the Taiwanese are doggedness. They don't give up easily to force their life in order to get better life and they open mind to hear widely different points of view from the others. I really like these his opinions maybe If I have enough money, I will go there in order to see or study language from here. 

I would like to show you about the things in Taiwan such as Actors, custom, place and food respectively.

We did the exercise about the inferring by choosing the statements that might be true. I got 2 wrong answers. and answered the questions on page 113 by writing short answer to the questions.

Eventually, the teacher talked to us about the things that will occur in the near future. "Language is very significant not only English but also other languages such as Chinese, Japanese, or even Myanmar languages. The more you have many languages, The more you get the better jobs. Moreover, she told us about her experiences. She has purpose in her life that is graduation in PhD and finally she can do it. She told us that we should have the purpose in our life and improve ourselves, try to pay attention and be industrious. When we graduate, we will be a good English teacher. If we are good at English, we should study more languages in order to have more chance in our working. 

Her speech is very inspiring me. I will be studious to study and now I am also studying Chinese language. I will try to do it my best for my mother and myself.

Everything will be just fine. If you have perseverance.

WEST MEETS EAST

Here is the tenth week of studying this course. First of all, the teacher gave us to see the pictures in order to guide into the lesson,West meets East, I would like to show you the pictures of this content.

Then, she gave us to discuss about foods,actor,musicians,athletes from our country which have become popular in overseas. I talked with my partner about these topics that made us confident to speak English. Moreover, we also thought the answers in order to answer with others. 

I recommended my partner Papaya salad is the most famous food in Thailand and Mario Maurer is the most famous actor in Thailand too. My partner agreed with me because we have already known that Mario Maurer has ever been famous in China so he has already been known by his fan-clubs among people in Asia and Europe. 

Next, we read the content,The Asianization of the united states, this content was hard because of the vocabularies that made me misunderstanding. Some of paragraphs I used skimming first and tried to capture the main idea. Then, I used scanning in order to answer the questions in this hand out. It made me serious due to difficulties of this passage. It seems academic so I confused a little bit.

Next, we answered the questions together. The teacher tried to help us by using the internet to find the words that made us to easily understand. I got 5 scores from 10 scores so I necessary to improve my English Reading Skill too much in order to be good at English.

Eventually, the teacher told us the score of test. I got 29 marks from 40 marks. I was disappointed a little bit so I think I should read and practice more in order to be good at English. "The more I do, The more I get"

Ps. Next week, we have no class because the teacher will not be here. she needs to make a study trip. so she assigned us to do more exercises and read the passage whole of handout then, she will respond the answers subsequently.
