NARRATIVE
How are things guys? welcome to my weblog again! Here is the third week of studying in this course. In my view, time goes by fast so we should do it best each day in order to be no regret subsequently.
Today we studied about "NARRATIVE" Do you know exactly? what does it mean.
Well, it means like a story or recount of events, experiences, or the like, whether true or fictitious such as a book, literary work etc., contain such a story. The basic purpose of Narrative is to entertain the reader's interest in a story. The author spoke or wrote account of connected events for the reader to understand the emotions and images of the story which the author wants to convey.
Firstly, our instructor answered the questions about investigation for last week. I could understand that she said and explained the reason for each question that why we had to answer like this.
Next, she presented about new issue which is "SECRET" for today by giving us to make a cross in circle diagram on page 52 on each line to show what we feel. Joining the crossed with a pencil line, then we had to discuss with our partners why you chose like this.
There are 6 levels to express how you feel on each line. I would like to show you about how I feel on each line including tell you the reason why I choose the level of each line like that.
I was sensitive to smells = 5
Because I usually have an allergy particularly, the dust in the air, cigarette smoke etc.

Because I am with my mother. My father passed away since I was 7 years old. That's why I really love and close the one who I really love.
I was often left alone = 1
Because I am generous and friendly so I hardly ever was left alone.
I felt excluded from the world of adult = 2
Because I didn't understand what the adult said so I sometimes felt excluded from the world of adult.

I was always curious to know things = 6

I did as I was told = 4

I felt close to father = 3
Because since I was young, my father was generous to give me a toy and take me to travel.
My parents and I did lots of things together = 4
Because I did activities on weekend with my parents e.g. having dinner etc.
I noticed small details of people's appearance = 4
Because sometime, I ever noticed small details of people's appearance e.g. my friend has got a bit decay of her tooth, I told her so she was embarrassed a little bit.
I often did things that now seem to me to be cruel = 4
Because since I was in high school, I didn't pay attention and made my mom disappointed. Now I am really sorry for this incident.
P.S.
0 = MINIMUM
6 = MAXIMUM
Later, we read the text which is "SECRET" by skimming first. Then, we used language features in Orientation.
The story is about Kylie moved into her new house with her mother and Philip who now is her step father. Her father and her mother were divorced or separated. Her mother didn't pay attention to her. She had exploring the yard and found an egg in the yard at the back of new house and now she kept it as her secret.
Kylie was dubious because she always noticed small details of people's appearance. She got up onto her neighbors' yard. There was fence which hens and roosters lived. Later, she saw rooster pecked and twisted hens. It made her angry.
Sometimes in the afternoon, she saw raggedy hen and her slip between the pickets to escape. Her secret became bigger everyday. When her mother and step father wouldn't be, she was happy. She sat on the fence, sharing the secret with hen.
Philip had shown Kylie and her mother about the bore well in the back of the yard and told to her that not to open the lid of the bore well but she did. Later, she looked on her photo album, missed her father and wanted to live with him.
After we had finished reading, the teacher gave us to answer the question from this story and add three fairly short sentences on page 55 as our homework.
Here are the questions that our teacher gave in the class
1. Why did Kylie feel lonely?
Because her mother and step-father weren't interested to her. They always let her alone.
2. Why did she keep the eggs as her secret?
Because she didn't want to let her mother and step-father know about it.
3. Why didn't she live with her father?
Because her father and mother were separated. She wanted Kylie to live with her.
4. What did she do in the bore well in the back yard?
She tried to open the lid of the bore well in the back yard.
5. Why did Kylie always look at the photos?
Because she missed her memories in the past.
6. Why wasn't her father in the photos?
Because he had been the photographer in the family and taken Kylie, her mother and friends.
News of this week
What did you learn today?
I learned about Narrative and read the story which is "SECRET"
What did you find easy?
In my opinion, Analyzing language features in Orientation is easy for me.
What did you find difficult?
In my opinion, this story is difficult as a result of its vocabularies. However, I tried to use the strategies that I obtained from last subject,English Reading Strategies, to read with it.
What did you solve the problem?
I tried to pay attention in the classroom and imagine the image of this story that the author wants to let the reader know.
What are your attitudes towards the lesson?
I think that this story is difficult as a result of its words. Students haven't to stop reading when they find unknown words. They need to use the strategies in reading and practice to read more in order to understand and analyze the text as well.

TWITTER FINDS A PLACE IN THE CLASSROOM
What did you get from this news?
I also knew that twitter finds a place in the U.S. classroom. It can be profit, particularly in the shy students, they can tap away or share what's on their mind via twitter. Moreover, it can make the students to participate in the classroom either. Thereby, twitter becomes that vehicle and makes the students to participate in the classroom.
