English Reading Strategies Week1

3  August  2015

Today, I got up at 6.00 a.m. and got dressed at 7.a.m. Then, I went to university by motorbike at 8.00 a.m. I attended the class at 8.25 a.m. My class stats at 8.30 a.m. My instructor is Asst.Prof.Dr. Usa Noytim. She is friendly. I liked her English voice because when she said I can understand what she said. She came to the class on time. First, She explained the course syllabus. She taught us about the healthy and unhealthy foods. This lesson was interesting and easy because I like to eat. I thought that the speaking skill is easy. When I asked some of my friends about the favorite foods. I spoke confidently. It made me happy to improve my English skills. Some of my friends can not speak English because they were shy to speak and worried about English Grammar. I told my friends that you should listen and speak English everyday as much as you can. The more you do, The more you get.

This course is English reading when I read the text or article I will see some words that I do not know their meaning. It causes misunderstanding. It is difficult for me. But I try to understand what article is about First,I uses the reading strategies to read the article. It is Skimming the text. I try to guess the text is about. Then, I use the Scanning Strategy to read the text. I try to capture the words which were referred for instance They,It,Them etc. After I finish reading, I will jot down the meaning of words which I do not know on the book and read them immediately.

For my opinion, I think the reading is significant when you go to aboard you will see the sign, announcement etc If your reading skill is great, you will get what does it mean. Therefore, you should try to read the English article at least 20 minutes/day in order to improve your English Reading Skill as well. For me, I will try to read English newspaper on the internet. Sometimes I read and listen English news on BBC news and Voice of America.
