Classic Ann Landers (continue...)
Today, Our teacher comes to class on time. First of all, she checked the list of student's name and the lesson starts at 8.35 a.m.
Then, we responded the questions on page 3 so we needed to examine the answered by telling with the partner in order to check that which answered were correct or wrong in English version. This is the one method to improve our English Skill particularly, Speaking Skill.
Next, she gave us to write the answers on whiteboard in order to check whether they are correct or not.
After that, she read the letters which sent to Ann Landers and her responses with analysis each of them.
I would like to conclude each of letters and Ann Landers' responses.
1. This letter sent by Careful in Louisiana is about she hired contractor to renovate her home. As her husband didn't be at home so she only was at home. During the night, she found her window was unlocked in her bedroom so she felt shocked. Moreover, she heard that there was a woman who had been raped by a man who had crawled through a window. She was certain that most workers are reputable and she wanted Ann to warn the readers about this.
Ann Landers' advice : she advised that the readers to be careful if the strangers come to work in their home by locking the doors or windows whether the work had been done or not.
2. The letter sent by Granada Hills, Calif is about his wife got cancer. Their friends said "GET WELL SOON" to her wife. It made him hurt. He didn't want to offend with their friends so he wrote this letter to Ann and hoped that his letter would be printed out to stop saying "GET WELL SOON" from their friends.
Ann Landers' advice : she advised him to open up his mind and accepted the phrase because it is intended to be comforting.
3. The letter sent by Annoyed in Texas is about She was divorced of two. When her children birthday came. She always invited her ex-husband and his wife,Venessa, came to her children birthday party. When they arrived, Venessa was constantly overstepping her bound with her children. She had spoken with her ex-boyfriend about this, but he didn't think Venessa was doing anything wrong. It had burned her up with Venessa's action.
Ann Landers' advice : she advised her not to compete, stayed in the background and refrained from making any critical remarks.
4. The letter sent by Sitka, Alaska is about she and her husband visited their friends and relatives, they only talked about themselves, their families, their accomplishments etc. They never asked about Sitka and her husband about their families etc. These were upset for her.
Ann Landers; advice : she advised that there were 2 kinds of people either the people talk about themselves or ask questions about yourself so didn't let stupid things that made you annoyed.
From this lesson I got many vocabularies such as overstepping, glamorous,mediate,apprehend,phony etc.
Here is the list of vocabularies that I don't be familiar.
Next, the new lesson started. It is English Today / Learning Language. Before this lesson started, she had given us think about the obstacles to faster reading and wrote on the whiteboard.
These are the obstacles to faster reading written by us.
We answered the question by ticking the statements do we agree with. we read the text and chose the answer by using the skimming to find what the text is about.
Finally, She gave us to read whole of this hand out in advance in order to practice our English Skill especially, Reading Skill.
