  Problem and Solution 







Today, we started to study the last lesson which is Problem and Solution. This lesson was pretty difficult because it was alike Cause and Effect. Yet, it has the propose solution to let the readers know while cause and effect don't.


First of all, the teacher checked our names. Then, she let us know about the scores of cooking presentation. I got 8.5 point which made me pleasure. Because I didn't hope I would get the high score like that.


Go back to the lesson, she let us know the definition of problem and solution. And also, she told about the difference between cause and effect and problem and solution.






I would like to let you know what the problem and solution is. It is a pattern of organization where information in a passage is expressed as a dilemma or concerning issue (a problem) and something that was, can be, or should be done to remedy this issue (solution or attempted solution). The problem and solution text may seem like it would be easy to recognize, but it can be moderately difficult to identify because it is frequently confused with the cause and effect pattern of organization, as they both have relational structure; however, if you read the passage and look specially for both a problem and a solution to the problem, you should find it pretty easy to distinguish from cause and effect.


As cause and effect passage do not propose solutions to any negative occurrences within the passage but rather just explain why or how they happen. 


She explain the word "dilemma" to all of us. Do you know what does it mean? I will let you know. Well, it means a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two different things you could do. For instance, the president is clearly in a dilemma about how to tackle the crisis etc.




Next, we started to read the example which was about the teen pregnancies. She read and gave us repeat after her. Then, she gave us look the diagram in the text and we had to see the discourse markers too.


 I will let you know the problem and solution of this text.

Later, she let us know about the problem markers and solution markers. Then, we started to do the Skill practice by circling the problem markers and highlight the solution markers. After that, write either problem or solution in the margin next to the relevant information.


From these exercises, they made me know what are problem and solution by noticing the context clue and discourse markers. When I finished doing them, I needed to write them in the diagram in order to check my comprehension.


After that, she assigned us to do the rest of exercise. She will answer the questions on next Tuesday. Definitely, it is the last day which I am going to study. So, I will try harder to study and do it with my best.




When we finished studying, we had to take a test, Personally, it was quite difficult. Because of my answers, I wasn't sure they will be correct or not. But I tried to do it with my best. I hope everything I did will be successful to get the best score. God bless me /\

 What did you get from this news? 


I also knew that when we are separable, try to contact each other. Both partners need to connect more through different channels. No need to frequently contact, just 2-3 times per week it's okay. It's a way to keep romantic each other when we are separable. If we pass this obstacle, we will get more lasting relationship as well.

I started to study the new lesson which was Problem and Solution






 What did you find easy?


In my opinion, Finding the discourse markers is easy for me. Because I know these conjunction as well and I will learn as much as I can in order to understand and know greatly.




 What did you find difficult?



Personally, analyzing the text is difficult. When I finish analyzing, I have to include the problem and solution as diagram because the teacher usually gives us to write diagram in order to check comprehension.







 What did you solve the problem?


I tried to pay attention during the class, read more and practice to write the diagram.






 What are your attitudes towards the lesson?


Personally, this lesson is similar to cause and effect. But it has explanation in solution. I feel this lesson is neutral. Yet, I should analyze the text what is problem and what is solution. Also, I have to think what solution is. Hence, I should study hard in order to understand this lesson greatly.

  Exemplification (Continued...) 



Today, we had to study Exemplification. First of all, the teacher told us about English Reading Strategies, for example, Skimming, Scanning, Analyzing text genre and Discourse Markers. These things are very beneficial to help out English Reading as well.


After that, we had to read text 2 which is Fun things to do in Great Falls. I also knew each of places in Great falls has many activities to do that. For instance, The River's Edge Trail where you can walk and see the view, Giant Springs where you  can feed giant fish and have a picnic, Gibson Park where you can play basketball, feed ducks, play outdoor equipment, throw horseshoes, skateboard, and have a picnic as Giant Springs etc.


Then, we had to answered the questions after we had finished reading this text in order to check our comprehension. We must complete places which are in Great Falls relate with the activities given in each of questions.


Next, we had to find the main idea of this text which is there are many ways to have fun in Great Falls without Spending a Fortune. We also highlight discourse markers in the text.




After we finished doing text 2, we started reading in text 3 related with hazards in the home and how to eliminate them. 







When we finished reading, we had to find the topic which is hazards in the home and how to eliminate them.  And also we had to identify the main idea which is many hazards in the home that jeopardize a child's safety can be easily eliminated. 


After we finished identifying both topic and main idea. We had to answer the questions by choosing the best answer each of questions and completing the correct answers.


Later, we also highlighted the discourse markers in the text. The reason that we had to highlight them was they could make us understand the text easily and the information added by author to reader too. 






Then, we started reading the last text which is what is Language? We could know both humans and animals have different language in communicating each other. In first paragraph, the author let us know what a language is by adding the its definition. The rest of paragraphs is to bring the examples that support the language of humans and animals




 So, I use language to communicate with others as same as humans :} 





Next, we had to answer the questions the text and highlight the discourse markers too. We finished learning this lesson and the teacher let us know the problem and solution by writing on the whiteboard




Then, she assigned us to find the problem and solution. Next, we had to present in front of the classroom. I and my friends thought about the traffic problem and solution.

Finally, we are going to study new lesson which is problem and solution. Also, we had to take a test. So, reading and practice more are the best ways to get the best scores. TRY MY BEST

In my opinion, Finding the discourse markers was easy for me. Because I knew these conjunction as well. I will learn as much as I can in order to understand and do in testing as well.

I tried to pay attention during the class and find more information how to use each of discourse markers

Personally, I like this lesson because it is to bring the examples that support the information of the author. These make me understand greatly.
